Volunteer FAQ

Volunteer Signup FAQ

How many volunteer hours am I required to complete?

BAHA requires 8 Association Volunteer Hours for each registered player within the association.

There is no maximum volunteer hour requirement per family. Families with multiple registered players are responsible for completing the required hours for each child.

What is the difference between Association Volunteer Hours and Team Volunteer Hours?

Association Volunteer Hours

Association Volunteer Hours are completed through volunteer opportunities posted on the BAHA website or through approved positions listed below that qualify for Association Volunteer Credit.

Team Volunteer Hours

Team Volunteer Hours are duties that support the day-to-day operations of your child's team, such as:

  • Penalty Box Volunteers

  • Scorekeepers

  • Timekeepers

  • Game Sheet Volunteers

Team Volunteer Hours do not count toward your Association Volunteer Hour requirement.

Can I change or cancel a volunteer shift?

Yes. Volunteer shifts may be changed or cancelled up to 72 hours prior to the scheduled shift.

If you need to cancel or modify a shift within 72 hours of the scheduled start time, please contact vp-admin@baha.ab.ca as soon as possible to make alternative arrangements.

What happens if I do not sign up for my required volunteer hours?

Families are responsible for registering for and completing their required volunteer hours.

If the required volunteer commitment is not fulfilled, BAHA reserves the right to cash the family's $400 Volunteer/Team Bond Deposit in accordance with the Team Bond Policy.

What happens if I do not show up for a volunteer shift?

Volunteers who fail to attend a scheduled shift without proper notice will be assessed additional volunteer hours equal to the number of hours missed.

Example:
If you register for a 4-hour shift and do not attend, an additional 4 volunteer hours will be added to your required volunteer commitment.

Failure to complete all required volunteer hours, including any penalty hours, may result in the family's $400 Volunteer/Team Bond Deposit being cashed at the end of the season in accordance with the Team Bond Policy.
